Join David Learman in this Focus Group to explore the boundaries of focus and blur in art photography

Engaging participants in dialogue and an exploration of whether focus or blur add to or detract from communicating particular circumstances or messages when in context to art photography. David will use examples of his work to demonstrate different approaches to the subject and discuss the various techniques and dynamics that he has employed to create a sense of occasion. He hopes to challenge conventional thoughts on the importance on ‘sharpness’

David began his in the early 80’s as a catwalk fashion photographer and travelled the fashion capitals of Europe for several years before putting the camera down to start his own design agency in heart of London. He relocated his business, which he still owns and manages, to Dubai in 2022, and reconnected with photography 2015 as a result of his Emirati friends regaling him with many stories of their unique heritage, culture and tradition. David has since dedicated all his spare time to long-term studies of aspects of Emirati life that are in danger of being lost to the creep of modernisation and commercialisation.
